War Dept. James Willkinson and Benjamin Hawkins Esquires Commissioners Recd. War Department 16th July 1801 Gentlemen By a letter received this morning from Mr. Davis that gentleman announcs that he is under the necessity of [undecipherable] to act under the appointment of joint Commissioner with you to hold treaties with certain Indian Nations South of the Ohio. Andrew Pickens Esquire has been appointed in [undecipherable] and request to join you as soon as possible in the mean while you will proceed on the business of your mission conformably to the commissions and instruction herewith transmitted. Mr. Thomas Mounger Contracts for the state of Georgia is directed to hold himself in readiness to furnish supplies of rations at Fort Wilkinson [undecipherable] your requisitions I have the honor to be, with respectful consideration Gentlemen Your very obd.
