Sir Mr. Simmons being absent it is my duty to acknowledge the rect. of your letter dated the 6th Inst. and had not the removal of the Office prevented it I should have attended to it ere this – I have written to Mr Elias B Dayton informing him of the State of the Office, and that as early as possible his accounts would be examined and finally adj[undecipherable].
