[Address:] John Pierce Esqr / Paymaster Gen.l to / the American Army — / West Point —
[Docket:] From Major Burran / r.d March 16 1784
D. Pierce,
I Received a letter from you after my return from Georgia informing me of your refunding to my mother the Ten Guineas — I have expected to see you in town from time to time which has induced me to defer writing till this time — I expect in a few weeks to sail for Georgia, but I have requested my friend Major McPherson to settle that affair with you —
I must beg the favour of you to transmit me an Acc.t of the monys I received while in the [strikethrough: Department] office of Brigade Major to the N. Carolina Brigade — I always drew my Pay from the Paymaster Gen.l & not in the pay rolls of any regiment — I was appointed to the Office the 6.th of Jan.y [undecipherable] & [undecipherable] the [undecipherable] of April 79 — This Certificate will be necessary for me to settle any depreciation Acct. — As I expect to sail for Savannah by the earliest opportunity [undecipherable] you transmit the [undecipherable] the more you will oblige your H.ble [undecipherable]
[undecipherable]
Philad.a 24 Feb.y 1784
P.s. McPherson is well & if he [undecipherable] was writing would doubtless desire to be remembered —
