Sir,
In compliance with your request I have examined the returns of the late North Carolina line for arrearages of pay and subsistence due the Officers of sd line for the Years 1782 & 1783 and find that Capt John Ingles has been omitted for his Subsistence. this omission I presume arose from his not transmitting his account, attested — in his letter [strikethrough: he gave a notice] by informing you that this, hap, once been deposited — [strikethrough: thanks since the den made to Mr Pierce, I mention his account] [strikethrough: attested] that Mr Pierce had no objection to admitting his claim — I have searched the papers of Mr Pierce as also the omitted claims, for Capt Ingles account but without effect — I [strikethrough: therefg give] am of opinion [strikethrough: that the sum of] Capt John Ingles for his Subsistence for the Year 1782 the Sum of One hundred & nineteen 9⁄90 dolls & from the 1 Jany. to the 1 May 1783 (at which period he was deranged) the Sum of Eighty eight 9⁄90 dolls amounting to Two hundred & [undecipherable] 9⁄90 dolls, which Sum should be paid him on his attesting that he nor any person for him had received the same or any part —
