Williamson] To the honorable the [undecipherable] the United States in Congress [undecipherable] The Petition of Joseph King, [undecipherable] That your petitioner held the [undecipherable] [an] Adjutant in the [undecipherable] the Defence of the United States [undecipherable] the close of that Campaign he was [undecipherable] to the [undecipherable: probable reading "Fourth"] Jersey Regiment, [undecipherable] untill the 26^th of June [undecipherable: probable year 177-] when he was [undecipherable] in Battle and made Prisoner by [undecipherable] That being much disabled [undecipherable] Deranged in 1779,— That after the [undecipherable] of [undecipherable: probable reading "Artificers"] were formed into a [undecipherable] [undecipherable] Pay Master to [undecipherable] [undecipherable] he discharged that [undecipherable] Important trusts in the [undecipherable] untill the close of his [undecipherable] His Infirmities Occasion[undecipherable] Sufferings with the enemy [undecipherable] to gain a livelihood by labor [undecipherable] Such as he was Accustomed to [undecipherable] That he has not an estate to support [undecipherable] He now Prays that in lieu of [undecipherable] to him by the laws of the Country of [undecipherable] he allowed five years full pay, as [undecipherable] Artificers, his pay as [undecipherable] a Captain,— Desiring to be [undecipherable] [undecipherable] he began & ended the war as [undecipherable] And your Petitioner as in [undecipherable] Shall ever Pray.
