Halsted / T.T.] Knoxville 18 October 1797 Sir Agreeably to your desire I delivered your letters to Cap^t Butler & Lieu^t Grayson, the former shew me his account stated by M^r Swan and the balance receipted for; the other Gentleman I have not seen. I now inclose you the Account of Elijah Robertson of Mero district against the United States for Provisions and Whiskey supplied a party of Indians on their march to join General Wayne, as some connection may be in these accounts with others of like nature, and compensation made by orders of the then commanding Officer they are forwarded for information respecting them, and if it should appear that no consideration has been made, and General Robertson authorized at the time to make such provision for the Indians; I will pay the amount due on it. I also inclose the Certificates of General Pickens that Robert Cosby was wounded the 2^d November 1795 in South Carolina. and the Certificates of Doctor Fournier and Claiborne describing his wound; as also the Deposition of James Cosby, and that of his own Robert Cosby, that he was the [undecipherable] and thinks himself entitled to a pension.
