Knox County } personally appeared James Cosby before me Joseph Greer a Justice of the peace in and for said County and made oath that, this Robert Cosby the person present, is the same person that was wounded at Ninety Six in the year 1775 in Captain Thomas Langdon Company and under the Command of General Andrew Williamson and whose wound has been Cured By Doct. N. A. S. [undecipherable] and Thomas [W.?] Claiborne Surgeon for the third Regiments of the United States as appears by their Certificates — Sworn to before me this 5^th of August 1797 James Cosby Joseph Greer Jr: State of Tennessee Knox County } personally appeared the above mentioned Robert Cosby before me Joseph Greer a Justice of the peace in and for said County and made oath that he is the same person that was wounded at Ninety Six in the year 1775 in Captain Thomas Langdon's Company, and under the command of General Andrew Williamson, and that he hath never received any part of his Pension or other Satisfaction for the same from the State since the year 1785 — Sworn to before and Subscribed before me this 5^th of Aug^t 1797 [undecipherable] Joseph Greer Jr: The application of Robert Cosby for a pension is too late — A law was made in February 1793 it continued in force for two years, which applied itself to such Soldiers as were disabled in the Revolutionary war, upon their producing the proper [undecipherable] which the law required — there is no law [existing?] that can entitle him to [undecipherable] — the only method he can pursue is an application to Congress [undecipherable]
