Report on the progress at Harper's Ferry
Document 1798Perkins reports to Hodgdon that, with four exceptions, the company has arrived at Harpers Ferry. Several men are fixing the tools and three forges are now operable. Tools are still needed to build the locks but morale among the men seems very high.

Colonel Hodgdon Philadelphia 213 Harpers Ferry December 5.th 98 Sir David Hunter having determined to return to Philad.a in order to bring forward his hamorsley [?] I aveal my Self of the opertunity to let you know that we are all arved here except those that could not get ready to come with the first company namely Mr Hanouley Sulender Holdworth & Griffin Part of the hands are imployed in fixing up the Tools and thre forges are allredy at work But wee are in great want of those Tools that were Purchased of mee as we can make no Locks until they arrive. it give mee much satesfaction to find the People so well Satisfied with their Situation Mr Mackey is this morning gone off to Georg Town to forward te Stores sent by Capn Hand.
