Received your letter of the 23d August respecting Isidore Peltier. — He arrived at this Post in August 1797. and presented [strikethrough: the] an agreement made with him by the Quarter Master General on his Assistant. — wherein it appears he was a Citizen and was engaged as a Mason at two Dollars Pr. day. — which Services he performed under my directions on the Public works until he was discharged on the 2d of September 1798. as you will see by the enclosed Certificates—
