I request that you would be pleased to de[signate]
as early as may be the articles which will be to b[e]
obtained by the naval Agents at Norfolk, Baltim[ore],
Philadelphia, New York, Boston and Portsmou[th].
Altho I have not yet definitive answers from a[ll]
those places, yet as soon as I shall receive them [I]
am desirous of putting every thing in train of
execution.—

placed in the hands of the Naval Agents who ha[ve]
definitively accepted of their appointments ce[r]-
[tain] sums of money with which to commence their

You will be better able to form a judgement
of the sum than I can as you will decide upon th[e]
articles which are to be obtained by them.
I shall transmit the instructions mentioned to y[ou]
to them and inform them for further directions relat-
ively to articles to be purchased, that they will
apply to the Commissioner of the Revenue.—
