Transport to Oswego and Albany
Document 1796Secretary of War James McHenry informs Henry Glen that Glen is responsible for providing the transportation of ninety troops to their post in western New York. Two thousand dollars will be remitted to Glen for this purpose.
Loan Office James W Henry FREE Henry Glen [undecipherable] Schenectady near Albany War Office September 10, 1796 Sir Cadert have issued for a detachment consisting of about ninety men, without artillery, and with provisions only, to carry them to Oswego; to proceed to Albany on their way to that post. You will therefore be pleased to prepare the necessary means for their transportation. I have in consequence of your letter of the 2 instant directed two thousand dollars to be remitted you for which you are to be accountable.
