[M-1050] [1] nstances of a correspondence with officers under command and commanded immediately by the General Sec. Knox writes to Maj. Gen. Wayne July 20 1792. "you will direct Brig. Gen. Wilkinson to keep up a constant correspondence with you. I shall answer all the letters I have received from him, and transmit you a copy thereof, as well for your information of past events, as to show you that a correspondence is not unnecessarily carried on from this Office with an officer under your immediate orders" [same letter / [undecipherable] express / that Gen Wilk. / is under his / command.] Same letter. "The regulations relative to the receipt & delivery of stores of all sorts should be transmitted to you as early as early as possible". July 27. to the same from the same. "As persons may be wounded or disabled it is necessary the [undecipherable] requisite To settle them to receive the pensions should be regulated — "The following is therefore presented. the substance of which was contained in my letter to Brig. Gen. Wilkins of the 17^th inst, a Copy of which has been transmitted to you" The regulations respecting invalids and [the?] transmitted in the [letter?] above alluded,) [to Gen Wilts] and a copy of this letter [to Gen Wt] [undecipherable] to Gen Wayne — to be considered [?] for general government in all such cases. Letter from Sec. of war to Gen Wayne "to transmit you a copy of the instructions and regulations from the comptroller to the pay-master to the army. "I shall direct Lt Col Clarke with the troops from the upper garrisons (Ohio) (Gen Wayne at this time at or near [undecipherable] on the Ohio) to move down in the fore part of July, excepting the small garrison mentioned in my letter of the 17^th ulto, and in order that the difficulty may be deepened in case of the lowness of the waters, he will be directed to establish a post at the mouth of Wheeling below which there is generally a sufficiency of water" Letter to Lieut. Sir, you having been directed by the commander in chief to remain at Pittsburg as the commanding officer in that quarter, I request that you will keep a regular communication by Post to this office and as early as possible transmit me a complete return of the several detachments posted at Fort Franklin, Pittsburg, Marietta, Galliopolis and any other subordinate stations within the sphere of your command and the names of the officers at said posts respectively. July 20^th 1793. Gen Wayne informed "The copy of my letter to Lt. Col.
