I rec'd the 26^th [undecipherable] yesterday I watched the Post for the [thou]sand Dollars you mentioned I might expect, but no money or letter directed to me came to hand— I hope an other fate attends it— then taking its rout to [undecipherable] in that case it will come to hand on Saturday next— I shall be on the look out & will advise you of the event immediately— In my letter of the 7^th I [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] Muskets [undecipherable] from [undecipherable] [undecipherable] a wanting repair by new [undecipherable] stocks— Bayonets, Rammers, Springs &c & the whole cleaning— it was my opinion they ought to be put in a state of repair— I suggested the same to the Super[intendant] who said for that purpose it would require your particular order— I requested your directions on the subject The Superintendant yesterday called on me & said he would give my written [undecipherable] to have them cleaned he would do it I accordingly did— believing it is your intention to have all the Muskets in the Arsenal kept in a perfect State— if so this may precede the necessity of troubling yourself about it—.
