BY BRIGADIER GENERAL JAMES WILKINSON, Commanding the Army of the United States of America. Samuel Burchard a Corporal of Captain Francis Kinloch Huger's Company, in the Second Regiment of Artillery & Engineers having served Two years [ten months] and lost his right arm in the public service which renders him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier and entitles him to a pension from the Government, is hereby discharged. He has been paid, clothed, and subsisted, conformably to law, as appears by his receipt indorsed. To prevent imposition, the following description of the said Samuel Burchard is annexed. He is twenty three years of age; Five feet nine inches high; has a dark complexion; brown hair; blue eyes; was born in the New Castle County in the State of Delaware and is, by occupation, a Farmer. GIVEN at Head-Quarters, on the Twentieth day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and One . . . and of the Independence of the United States of America, the Twenty fifth.
