Knoxville the 11 March 1801
Sir
I have forwarded by this post Abstracts of Bills drawn by me on the honorable Secretaries of War and Treasury Department, Mr John Harris public Store keeper, and John Overton esquire Supervisor of the District of Tennessee as per Memorandum thereof, also an Abstract of Monies Received from John Overton esquire through the Collectors under him. The amount of the whole being six hundred and thirty thousand, one hundred eighty four dollars and twenty five and ½ Cents, for which I am accountable to the United States for, not having time myself to examine these Abstracts at present I offer them as made out by Mr Hillis, and as I have copies of the whole, will compare them with the Books and inform you if there be any incorrectness.
I also forward copies of my charges in the public Books for the Months of November & December 1800. These with the Books I have Sent on by Mr Herbert will furnish you with the transactions of all the public business from my commencing to the 31.st of December 1800 of my Agency.
As I have been carefull to take Duplicate Vouchers for every payment as well as to preserve every order from the Departments, and every paper concerning the business, not any occurrence by the late unhappy fires at the Seat of government can have any bad effect on my agency, and if there be any paper you may want you shall have a true and faithfull copy.
I am with Respect
Your Huml. Servt
David Henley
