Sir, I have no objection to the Acct. of Col. Montges; but it certainly cannot be proper for me to allow demands in that Department. In Affairs, if the Accountant is at liberty afterwards to disallow them, As seems to have been the case with respect to Maj: Cushing's Acct.
I am sensible it is no time now to settle a question of this sort, & no important evil will probably result from every thing of this nature being over for a few days until a secretary shall be appointed —
