Jon: Jackson Esq: Accountants Office Boston February 6^th 1801 — Sir I received your letter dated the 24^th ult: enclosing duplicate receipt for three thousand dollars from you on account of the Fortifications erecting in Boston which is filed in this Office — Sam V^c [undecipherable] --- The Accountant of the War Department Reports [undecipherable] to the request of the Secretary of War in conformity with the Resolution of the House of Representatives of the 1^st February 1801 as far as relates to [undecipherable] in his Office on the [Rooms?] occupied by the War Department exclusively [undecipherable] the evening of the 1 Nov: 1800 That the papers [undecipherable] were then only, which [have] been [lodged] in the 3^d [Story] of the building, [undecipherable] as follows — Relating to the accounts of the Old Army. Those papers relate only to [Several] [chests] containing [undecipherable] Day Bills [undecipherable] use in the examination of others containing account [vouchers] of claims for services prior to the sundry Pay masters & Agents for [paying] [Establishment] of the present troops, and one [chest] containing [undecipherable] Government which if not settlements made by the [late] Pay Maste[r] already settled would [undecipherable] General [Commissioner] of Army accounts [undecipherable] by [Act] of limitation.
