Conyers......... 19. 241.- You will be pleased to observe it accordingly in making the payments. I observe by the Muster Roll of Cap^t. Ford's C^o as well as that of Cap^t. Henrys that a name has been added to each, apparently after the Musters had been Certified the name in the first is "Abra^m Hardin" and in the latter "Grisham Coffield" I wish you particularly to investigate the cause, and ascertain with certainty that those persons performed the service. I need not detail to you the rules to be observed in making the payments but only request that you will prevent as far as practicable all Speculations on the Soldiers pay, & require proof of the persons having served who apply either in person or by Power of Attorney. For the aforesaid amount you will be authorized to draw Bills on the Secretary of War of which he has no doubt informed you. I return the Pay Rolls inclosed to guide you in your payments.
