In the month of January 1800 an account was presented I believe to [undecipherable] Depriest for rents of [a] portion of his property in the State of Georgia certified by the M.S. copy of the account I enclose herewith— a Statement is also forwarded for rate of the same property in calculation, differing from that fixed in the amount charged for rent of the grounds in that state, the former being charged at the rate of 400 dollars [undecipherable] amount, and the latter 1400 dollars, a copy of which is also enclosed—
As it is supposed from your long residence in the state of Georgia and the opportunity your official duties have afforded you of judging of the value, and situation of this property that you are better [undecipherable] to that effect, you are requested to state in writing the circumstances which have come within your knowledge relating thereto, and grounds such particulars as the nature of this case calls for to enable the [undecipherable] of War to [judge?] of the [propriety?]—
