Dear Sir, You will much oblige me by complying with a request [undecipherable: probable "made"] by direction of the Secretary that you would be so good as to get a correct copy of One of the Commissions issued by the President to Officers of Volunteer Corps under the act of May 28. (798), and forward it as soon as convenient to the Department. The plate & copies were all burnt at the destruction of our office, & as the law will soon expire I prefer writing the few that may be wanted to having them printed, but wish to have them in the words of those heretofore printed.
