Philadelphia Decem^r 25. 1800 Sir On receipt of your letter of the 17^th Instant, I applied to an Engraver to have a plate made conformable with the Commission you sent me, and that no delay might take place, I thought it best to have it done by a different person than the one who was at work on the other. When however he came to examine the Commission he informed me that it was not printed by a plate but with moveable [strikethrough: leup] types. I now send inclosed in a Brown paper wrapper, twenty Blank forms, as nearly similar to the other as I could procure the types of this kind — The remainder of One hundred will be brought by M^r Young the Printer who intends going to washington next week. the Parchment requiring to be damped and dried with caution to prevent its shriveling causes some delay — The Blank forms are rolled round some paper printed for the Commissioners of the Revenue who will apply for it — Hon^ble Samuel Dexter I have the honor &^c Esq^r Secretary of War
