Accountants Office December 12, 1800 The Sec^y of War Sir Permit me to [undecipherable] to you of yesterday in reply to yours of the 11^th on the subject of M^r O'Hara's acc^t I have received accounts from him amounting, if his statement is forty seven thousand nine hundred [undecipherable] dollars & [undecipherable]. I must however observe that [the] acc^ts are so [undecipherable] which [undecipherable] might take up a considerable time I cannot determine on the propriety or impropriety of this procedure— [undecipherable] Col. Francis [undecipherable], December 14^th 1800 Agent of Fortifications Sir, Your account of expenditures between the 5^th Aug^t & 29 Nov^t last on account of the Fortifications at [undecipherable] on the [undecipherable] Delaware have been examined & the [amount] thereof being six thousand three hundred eighty one dollars & [undecipherable] credited to your order on the books of this office leaving a balance of five thousand two hundred fifty seven dollars & [undecipherable] due from you to the U. S.— In the amount credited to your order is included the sum of twelve dollars being the amount of M^r Delany's Bill dated 23 Aug^t 1800 which is not receipted by him (a Copy of which is enclosed) it is therefore requested that you will obtain his rec^t & forward it to this office— [undecipherable]
