December 17¹⁸⁰⁰ Edw.^d Carrington Esq.^r Supervisor Richmond V.^a Sir I approve your proposition of the 12 Ins.^t of submitting the accounts of M.^r Rodgers to Col.^e Davis to be by him inspected reported on, or of any other method which you may think most conducive to the Interest of the Public. After having underwent such investigation as you may be pleased to dictate be so good as to forward them to this Office with the remarks necessary for laying them before the Comptroller for his decision. On the 18^° October last a settlement was made with A Humphreys by admitting to his credit the sum of Twelve thousand three hundred eighteen dollars, against the sum of D^rs 13 314. 1 received on account, leaving of course a balance which he still owes the U. S. of D^rs 996. 1. M^r C. M. Thruston has never exhibited any accounts tho' he has rec.^d large sums on account I therefore beg you to urge him to an immediate attention to them. I am &^c W.S.
