I have your favor of this date in answer to min, respecting Mr O'Hara's accounts, and I am pleased to be able that I may shortly expect a statement of them settled by the accounting Officer. I will thank you to let me know what amount of Vouchers have been transmitted in your office by Mr O'Hara since the date of your statement transmitted by you; or whether you know of any objections against them that may probably prevent his having credit for the amount in order that I may determine on the propriety of making him an advance on account. I understand him that he has enough cash on hand to cover the apparent balance, even rejecting those that are suspended, if so I shall make him an advance, as the general principle is that this business is to be conducted on the property of the public & not on private Capital. In the mean time I doubt not you will make exertions to close his accounts
