James O Hara Esq: has exhibited a charge against the United States for 20 barrels of Pork delivered to Adam McDonalds at [undecipherable] in the 23 May 1797 as appears by his receipt. he states that McDonald acts as assistant Commissary at that time & that he became his Agent on the 1 June 1797 after the Contract of 1796 (as of course the Commissary Department) had ceased. I therefore request that you will have reference to the accounts of Mr McDonalds with the Commissary General & ascertain [undecipherable] as well as the application of the Pork by McDonalds for my information, which I wish to receive as early as possible.
