Philadelphia 1st November 1800
Sir,
Major Constant Freeman of the first Regiment of Artillerists and Engineers, and now commanding in Charleston, South Carolina, has made and forwarded a requisition for the Medicines, Instruments and Hospital Stores inserted in the enclosed orders for the use of the post of Fort Green, Cockspur River, Savannah in the state of Georgia agreeably to a Return made to him by Alexander A. Peters, Surgeons Mate, and at present acting with him at Charleston, which Return is on file in my office - you will be pleased to take measures for furnishing the supply as early as possible - perhaps you may think it advisable to autherise Major Freeman to make the purchase, as was done in a former case; this appears to me to be the best mode in every point of view, but you can best determine.
I am, Sir, Your most obedient Servant.
Samuel Hodgdon
