R.P.O. 401810.] [20] Pittsburgh 31^st Oct 1800 Sir I have received Your letter of the 24^th inst Covering one Addressed to M^r Cutter which shall go forward by a safe Conveyance this day — I am flattering myself with the result of Your interview with the Secretary of War — The Troops have not Yet Embarked final instructions for that purpose I presume is arrived this day — The Q M Gen^l tells me he is to descend the River with the Troops — M^r Tracy says he has declined descending the Ohio & will Start for the City Washington in a few days — Col^t Hamtramck makes frequent Enquiries respecting the Clothing for the Troops Says he expected it would have arrived and been issued previous to their Embarkation — You will by the last Return see that the Quantity of Ammunition on hand is too Small to afford a proper supply for the Troops — I am Sir most sincerely Your.
