Oct^r. 1800 One hundred and twenty Espontoons are wanted for the Officers of the several Infantry Regiments. On examination I find we have none on hand that will answer, as uniformity is to be preserved. You will be pleased to provide this number as soon as posible, and place them in the public Store, to answer the above calls. I am aware they cannot be purchased, but must be fabricated, and I have to request that before you make a contract, the artificer may be directed to call on me for the form and dimensions.
