Col^o John Edwards Bourbon County Kentucky [Accountants Office October 21^st 1800] Sir In my letter of the 11 June 1799 I pointed out the necessity of your paying the balance of public monies remaining in your hands agreeable to a statement furnished by me into the hands of James Morrows, department of the Vienna [Lexington] and told this was the only means to prevent a suit being commenced. So much time has since elapsed & as further tidings of the balance has been received & have written to M^r Morrows & have given you another opportunity to prevent a suit by placing the monies in his hands. Now have already been informed that any additional vouchers which you might have wrote if they were correct be received by M^r Morrows as a set off against the balance claimed but as information has never been received. I regret that you will not comply with my requisition in favor of the measure as that prevents I proceeding which to a man of character must seriously affect his disagreeable consequences.
