R.E.O. 401810.] [Oct. 14 [undecipherable] 1800 [undecipherable]] War Department, 14 October 1800 Sir, I have received yours of the 8^th inst^o enclosing a partial return of Cannon belonging to the Military Department of the United States and part of an Estimate of the expence of the Ordnance Department for the Year 1801. It is necessary that I should know whether any and which of the Storekeepers have been discharged in consequence of the Removal of the Stores in their Custody to places of more general deposit, and whether any such changes are about to take place: if you shall not, before the receipt hereof, have forwarded the information, I request you will do it immediately, as the closing of the Estimate is retarded by the want of that knowledge only. In the Estimate for the present year, a sum of Two Hundred Dollars was included for Fuel & Stationary for your Office. You have not this item in your estimate.
