R.P.O. 401810.] West Point, Oct.^r 1. 1800 Sir, I inclose you a Return of Military Stores issued since the 1 of last July, with receipts for said stores — also a return of Hospital stores I received from Cap.^t Ingersoll, with a receipt subjoined to it from Cap.^t Stille for said stores — & a return of Stationary I also received from Cap.^t Ingersoll, with a receipt subjoined to it from Cap.^t Stille for said stationary. I received no order to deliver the said hospital stores & stationary to Cap.^t Stille; but as they belonged to Cap.^t Ingersoll's Company, & Cap.^t Stille requested to receive them for the use of his company, being in immediate want of some of the articles, I concluded it would not be amiss to transfer to him the whole — he first promising me to obtain an order from the Secretary of War for the delivery of them. On the same principle I transferred to Cap.^t Stille the hospital stores & stationary, the physician's return of medicines at this garrison — the Physician has delivered to Cap.^t Stille, the medicines being solely for the use of his company.
