If the negotiation is terminated upon the stated points, the effect is no doubt on the d' elections; but time will shew that they are directed by expediency, alone. In stead of operating in favor of their men, it will work against him. It is very probable they will send a misquote or misquotes here, if it behoves us to consider how we shall receive him there &c — It is a question on America or at least with the Executive authority of government whether we shall preserve our treaty with Prussia with good faith.
