Gen^l Jackson & Co^r Boston — Sir I have received your letter of the 15 Inst & with your account & receipts for expenditures in the month of Aug^t last on account of the Fortifications at Boston which have been examined & found correct & the amounts thereof passed to your credit, leaving at balance from you $1966 Your due from you to the U: S: which fund must be carried to your debit on next Settlement — Sam^l B[undecipherable] September 30^th 1800 The Secretary of War Sir Captⁿ Linus Bacon of the 2^d United States Reg^t having been called upon by the Secretary of War by letter of the 10 June & 10 October 1797 to act as Pay master to the Troops on the account of the U: S: on the emoluments of which capacity he has disbursed Dollars $1088 for which no compensation was paid, he however charged for his said duty of Pay master from the 1 Aug^t 1797 to the 31 May being 22 months at 20 40^ths P^r month, the sum of six hundred & sixty dollars in addition to his pay & emoluments as an officer in the line.
