Sir Your accounts rendered to this Office for supplies up to the 30 June 1800, upon which you claim the balance of D^rs 2874 9/100 have all been examined, from which I am under the necessity of suspending and not able to pass to your credit, on the present Settlement without further vouchers & explanations, sundry charges, amounting to the sum of Doll^s 3054 [undecipherable]/100 leaving a balance due from you of Doll^s 209 [undecipherable]/100. The principal part of the amount suspended are for payments made by you, upon the order of Lieut^t Coll^t Smith said to be on account of Mechanics Bills & for balances for materials furnished & work done by them without producing any bills or accounts other than their Rec^ts. which bills & accounts must be produced before I can pass the same to your credit, if you are not in possession of the Bills & accounts, it will be well to apply to Coll^t Smith for them & forward them imme-diately to this Office that the same may be examined & if proper, passed to your credit. In October last Gen^l Hamilton directed you to make sale of some Horses & a Waggon belonging to the Public, which it will be necessary you should give account for in your next Acco^ts together with any other monies that may have come into your hands, belonging to The U.S from the sale of Public Stores or otherways — Sam &c W.S.
