In reply have to observe that your accts of supplies at Westminster have been filed & the result communicated to you by my letter of the 14 Ult^o when it shall have come to hand I presume you will be in possession of all the information you require — Sin^r &^c N.S. Sir Your accounts rendered to this office for supplies of [undecipherable] to the 30 June 1800, upon which you claim the balance of D^o 274 [undecipherable] have all been examined, from which I am under the necessity of suspending and not able to pass to your credit on the present settlement without further vouchers & explanations [undecipherable] charges, amounting to the sum of Doll^s 804 [undecipherable] leaving a balance due from you of Doll^s 529 [undecipherable]. The principal part of the amount suspended are for payments made by you, upon the order of Lieu^t Col^l Smith said to be on account of mechanical bills & for balances for materials furnished [undecipherable] done by hand without producing any bills or accounts other than their rec^ts, which bills & accounts must be produced before I can pass the same to your credit; if you are not in possession of the bills & accounts it will be well to apply to Col^l Smith for them & procure them [undecipherable]
