Document 1800Major Craig discusses postage problems with Samuel Hodgdon. Craig also mentions the murder of an Indian by a local man and the impending trial.

Pittsburg 12th Sept. 1800 Sir I have received your letter of the 5th instant - I am glad you have got the Packet Safe, as to Postage I have long observed that some [special?] arrangement is wanted in that Department, I presume the Secretary of the Treasury - knows that such Packets are frequently transmitted by the Mail Chargeable with Postage - We have nothing New at this place Except that A Man Charged with killing an Indian is this morning [?] off under A Guard of the [fourth?] Regiment to review his tryal at Youngs Town New Connicticut, it is generaly believed he will be convicted of willful Murder - Gov Wilkinson is Expected here in A few days it is said with his Family to spend the Ensuing Winter the Upholsters Painters Joiners &c are now Employed in fitting up his Quarters in Fort Fayette - I have this moment rec’d A few lines from the Q Master date 25th Ultimo directing me to send off the Indian Annuities Via Presquarter - I am Sir your Obedient Servant Isaac Craig
