I advanced the Gen^t the money, and transmitted the Bill. to my friend D^nt Hale Esq. Albany; in order to have it accepted & paid; it was protested, and I have not been able to get it settled — and agreeable to the Gen^t. advice (in case it was not paid) to have made this draft, and make no doubt, it will be duly honor'd — I have to request you to forward it to your friend at Washington, (together with the inclosed papers (viz. protest &c.) for collection, Should it not be convenient for him to pay it in the time limited, he may have it ac^pted pay^t. in 30 days — If there be any Interest arising on the money I advanced to pay for the half of the House of Andrew Hodge, you may give it to M^rs Hodge — I shall leave it with you to do as you see fit in the business. — I am Sir with Respect Your H^ble Serv^t.
