August 1800 Sir The Packet enclosing this contains in addition four files of Papers numbered 1 a 4 — Contents as follows N° 1 a Return of Stores Military department for October November &December 1798, together with an Abstract of Stores received &Abstracts of Stores issued and forwarded accompanied by the relative Vouchers of issues — N° 2 contains a Return for the whole of the year 1799 accompanied by like Abstracts &Vouchers — N° 3 contains a Return for January February &March 1800, accompanied by an Abstract of Stores issued &forwarded with the relative Vouchers — N°4, contains a Return for April, May & June 1800, accompanied by an Abstract of Stores received, also an Abstract of Stores issued & forwarded, with Vouchers of issues.— In the course of comparing the Vouchers with the Abstracts of Stores forwarded you will observe that some Vouchers are wanting — This is occasioned by the Military and Quarter Master Stores being shipped in one Invoice — and which have, agreeably to an arrangement made by the Q. M. Gen^l been delivered to him, as well as all other Vouchers of Q: Master Stores, as all my Q: Master Accts are settled with him — since the 1^st of November 1798; you will therefore find them with his papers — I have this moment received your letter of the 22.^d inst, enclosing two Glaziers diamonds, for which I am much obliged to you — With respect to powder on hand 1^st of Jany 1800, was ten Barrels & loose 17lb., carried out 1017lb only — In the course of examining the present Returns, you I presume will find all, as nearly right as possible.— With respect to paying carriage of Gen. Gibson's box, the Q. M. Gen., pays all accounts, since the 1^st May 1800, & in his absence has left a Mr John Ferree to attend to that part of his business — I gave the Waggoner a Certificate as usual for delivery of the box, & expected that Ferree would have paid — but it appears he refused. I well know that if I had paid it, Gen. Gibson would never have reimbursed me, nor would the Quarter Master Gen. have taken up the Account. I have to beg your attention to the enclosed letter of Broom Littler & C^o, covering their acknowledgement of receiving of Doct^r Cornwell a certain agreement on the part of John Goodwin of New York, respecting a bill of exchange on London for £136. 17. 6.
