Sir
I have recd your letter of the 15th Inst accompanied by your accounts vouchers for expenditures on account of the Fortifications erecting at Boston for July 1800 which will be placed under examination & you will be informed of the result.
On this Statement you will receive a credit for $17.80 being your Commissions on the amount of purchases made by you on the Quartier Master Department in 1799 agreeable to the decision of the Secretary of War, and as the aggregate amount of your expenditures on account of the fortifications are stated $1000— if the accounts past recd are found correct, you will also receive credit for a Commission of 2½ pr Ct and that Sum of 1½ pr Ct for all above it agreeably to your Instructions of the 23d Jany 1799. The balance found due on such settlement will exhibit the actual State of Public monies in your hands. You will be pleased to recommend your accounts thereto and in all future transmissions of them you will also calculate your Commission of 1½ pr Ct in conformity to the Said Instructions —
