Your letter dated the 7th August last with its enclosures are now before me and have to inform you that I have gone over every thing with the show that the matter of my office received, by stating the account & reporting the balance to the Comptroller of the Treasury for his decision; I have nothing to do with passing of the power of Attorney or mode of payment; this rests with the Department of the Treasury where the necessary requirements are to be furnished I therefore return you the papers received with your letter
