Dear Sir, I annexed a letter to Colonel Pickering as Secretary of State upon the 15^th June; before it went forward learned that he was out of Office, but took care by committing it to the Post Master, Philadelphia as [underline: private] that it should fall into his hands because I wish to stand well in his opinion, and because I seek his Counsel as Necessary to me— I enclose some of our papers; in a Supplement you will find the Justice has in a charge to the grand Jury denied the principal allegation of this people made [strikethrough: through] that Bailiff Hunter— to wit: that I had assumed to agress the people &c. This is the first term of the Court since my appeal— the Justices formerly attended to the same which has been omitted in the present enclosures for want of Room, but will appear I am told in the next paper— Please send on these papers with the letter to my Sister by some private hand after you shall have read and communicated the Supplement to my friend Colonel Pickering.— Please send me on Stationary for I am destitute— never have received any but the first parcel.— Mine and Mrs Sargents good wishes attend yourself and Mrs Hodgdons— Adieu— (Signed) W.
