[city [undecipherable] dept [undecipherable] John Wilkins Jr Aug [undecipherable] 1800 [undecipherable] - 9] Pittsburgh 1^st August 1800 Sir I am this moment honoured with your letter of the 15^th ultimo — By this day's mail I have transmitted to you Abstracts accompanied with Vouchers for the disbursements of Cash in the Quarter Master, Indian, Hospital & ordnance departments amounting to 62,499 Dollars 46½ cents — By next mail, which is as soon as the accounts can be stated, I will forward an additional number of Vouchers amounting to forty or fifty thousand Dollars — There will afterwards remain in my office Vouchers to the amount of fifteen or sixteen thousand Dollars, being not complete agreeable to my instructions to the different agents awaiting their [undecipherable] explanation on them as these deficiencies will, I hope I hope, soon be obviated, so that they may be transmitted to your office. — I have written to my agents to forward their Vouchers to me as speedily as possible — Against the first of December next, I shall be able to deposite at your office Vouchers for the disbursements of cash to a considerable amount, so as, I hope, to enable you to make a very favourable report on my accounts. — I beg of you, & will consider it as conferring an obligation on me, that when any deficiencies occur in my Vouchers that you will communicate the same freely to me, & I shall endeavour to obviate them as speedily as possible. — [With Respect] [your ob't St] William Simmons Esq^t.
