A Mr. Samuel Henley has for some years past been employed as "Conductor of Military Stores" in the Western Country, or as an Assistant in the Quarter Master's Department. He has several times been settled with by the Quarter Master General, and allowed a certain Salary, and sometimes by the Accountant of this Department, under directions from my Predecessor. Having recently applied for settlement, I instructed the Accountant to settle with him on the principles heretofore established; I think, however, that he should be under your direction, if he has any charge of military Stores, or under that of the Quarter Master General. Will you be pleased to speak with Mr. Miller on the Subject and inform me of the result?
