On settlement of the account of Saml Hodgdon Esqr as agent of fortifications at Boston for expenditures on the mouth of June last he has taken a credit on the Books of this office for forstition [undecipherable] with Stone Work amounting [undecipherable] at Castle Island at 4 to 6000 each amounting to fifty five thousd & [undecipherable] for which you will be pleased to make the necessary entries on the books of the Superintendant of Military Stores —

I therefore considered it my duty to make the stop I did
