July 17^th 1800 Richmond V^a Sir I duly received your two letters of the 11 Ins^t. one acknowledging the receipt of my last, of the 2^d Ins^t. the other enclosing two accounts from Godlove Heiskell for his disbursements in the present year for the Hospital Department as agent under the contract of James O'Hara; as no settlement can take place but with the latter they must be considered as improperly exhibited at this Office and will therefore be retained here subject to yours on M^r. Heiskell's further orders. The accounts forwarded by M^r. Heiskell some time ago through your hands have been settled and the sum of one hundred & twenty eight dollars & 74/100, reported in his favor which sum you will receive from the Treasurer of the United States to be by you paid to the said M^r. Heiskell upon his granting you the necessary receipts. Enclosed is my letter to M^r. Heiskell left open for your perusal after which you will please close it & forward it as directed. Sam &c W.S.
