Sir —
Before my Departure from Baltimore I received your favor of the 12th April, enclosing two Letters, for which be pleased to accept my gratefull acknowledgements.
Since my arrival at this place I have heard that you retired from public service, which I the more regret as I apprehend you have been urged to resign by the intolerable abuse of a malignant party.
If you should conceive me capable of rendering you any service at this place, be pleased to charge me with your orders they shall be executed with promptness and precision.
