In reply to the several questions contained in your order of the 4th Instr on the subject of the Quarter Master Generals accounts I have to state. that the Quarter Master General has no open account on the books of my Office as follows —
amount of monies transacted from the books of the Treasury for balance & sundry accounts made to him from the Treasury Department previous to advances being made from this Dept [undecipherable] amount of Mons paid by the Secy of War up to the present time— [undecipherable] total amount of monies standing to his debit on the books of this Office [undecipherable]
He has transacted accounts by himself & agents as follows —
Samuel Hodgdons accounts as agent for the Quarter Master General while he acted in that capacity — Debt [undecipherable]
James Millars accounts as agent from the commencement of his agency to the 31st of March 1800 — [undecipherable]
John Williams form Quarter master Gent his accounts as paid by himself, the last Transaction was by his letter of the 21 Novr 1799 — [undecipherable]
