Pittsburg 10 July 1800 Sir, Your letter of the 4 instant is this moment come to hand accompan'd by a letter addressed to Governor Sargent which shall go forward by Post lately established from hence to Nashville & from thence to Natchez. No news of importance at this place we have expected the arrival of the troops mentioned in your former letter said to be under the command of Capt Gibson — I presume that Detachment must have changed the rout, as we have heard nothing of them since the receipt of your letter — The Col: has long been expecting the General to relieve him at this post, wishing to return to his family at Fort Wayne — I am much obliged to you for sending the Sugar forward. — I shall be glad to see your friend M^r Tracey and shall endeavour to render his visit here as agreeable to him as possible I am very respectfully Samuel Hodgdon esq Sir Your obed Serv.
