Cuskagoney 10 July 1800 By two runners from Cussetuh I am informed, that the expedition mentioned in the inclosed correspondence with Gov. Gelabert has succeeded in part. They state that the fleet appeared at the mouth of Appalachee and one ship of war sailed up and began to cannonade the fort of S. Marks; that on the appearance of this force Bowles opened the stores, invited the indians to take all the goods they could carry off, and to clear themselves. This they did, and he and his partizans quit the fort and retreated to Miccosoolee a town of Siminoleis in East Florida. The deputation from the nation left me on the 22 ultimo and went down the Chattohooche, and were to have a meeting of indians near the confluence of that river and Flint. The 4^th of this month, from whom they were to proceed into the nation of the Siminoleis I have not had one complaint for five months past, against any red ch[undecipherable] from our extensive frontiers.
