M^r Joseph Williams Springfield Mass^o Sir I have received your letter of the 10 Ult^o, and in reply have to inform you that from the acco^ts of M^r Ames subsequent to the 1 April 1797 I am enabled to state that he paid to Solomon Rockewell & Brothers, one hundred & twenty Dollars, p^r ton, for 10 Tons of refined Iron purchased of them in June July & Sep^to 1798. His accounts prior to that period have passed to the Treasury Dep^t; it is therefore to the Register of the Treasury you must apply for any information wanted preceding that date — I take this oppertunity of enclosing a sett of Forms by which you will in future be governed in exhibiting your acco^ts to this Office for Settlement — Sam &c P.
